Adolescent Attitudes Towards Gambling: Some preliminary
findings.
The authors of this report, from the International Gaming Research
Unit, Nottingham Trent University, conducted a national survey of
over 2,500 adolescents, mainly between the ages of 11 and 16 years
old.

report are also summarised below:
- 66% of those surveyed play fruit machines at some
point
- 33% have played fruit machines in the last month
- 10-20% are regular players - once a week
- Between 3-6% are probably pathological gamblers
- It is predominantly a problem amongst boys
- 62% said the legal age for any form of gambling should be set
at 18
- The majority (68%) see gambling as a means to win
money
