"The Advisory Commission on the Newham Casino, of which I
am Chair, is an independent body set up to consider both the
benefits and disadvantages of licensing a large casino in the
borough. We will be gathering evidence from a wide range of local
people and groups, as well as other key stakeholders such as the
police and Gambling Commission, to help us decide whether a large
casino is right for Newham.
Following the Hearings that have taken place in June, we will
examine the case for and against a large casino in the London
Borough of Newham and then make our recommendations to the Mayor of
Newham, Sir Robin Wales".
